Mbinguni Kumepasuka Exhibition

Ngugi Waweru's exhibition, showcased sculptures crafted from motorcycle chains, copper, household items, and used knives. The exhibition served as an extension of his previous installation, "Kahiuo Kugi Gatema O Mwena," which was displayed in 2022 at Circle Art Gallery and Document 15 in Germany.
The work examines global politics, political globalisation in the quest for power and profit and unearths social conflicts implanted on mankind today. The earth is home, the earth is beautiful, it is heaven on earth but with multiple economic, social, and political factors, not long ago the earth got broken and we are living hell on earth. Greediness, war, epidemics, and the imbalance between humanity harmonising nature with the supernatural are some of the factors hurting humankind and mother earth.
The work invites people to reflect and see the danger and misfortune staring at humanity. The concept behind the work derives from a kikuyu proverb “kahio kugi gatemaga o mwene,” which translates to a sharp knife cuts the owner and warns against the possibilities of being harmed by one’s own decisions.
