Jeremiah's journey at TICAH is a powerful example of dedication, growth, and a strong commitment to a noble mission. His story serves as a reminder that with trust, resilience, and a shared vision, we can make meaningful changes in the world.

Who are you?
My name is Jeremiah, born and raised in Machakos County.

If you could have a lifetime supply of one delicious dish, what would it be?
For me, it would be "Muthokoi," a traditional dish made by mixing maize, cowpeas, beans, and rich ghee. It's a staple in our Kamba community and simply delicious.

When you have free time to unwind, what's your go-to activity for pure enjoyment?
I love hiking, taking long walks, and visiting national parks to witness the beauty of our wildlife. I also enjoy gardening and farming.

If you possessed the power to change the world with a wave of your hand, what beautiful transformation would you bring about?
I would choose to eliminate all weapons like guns and machetes from the world. My vision is a world where these tools of violence don't exist.

What's your role at TICAH?
I joined TICAH in 2008 as an office and gardening assistant. It's been over 13 years, and I currently serve as the office and admin assistant at TICAH.

Can you recall the moment you became part of the TICAH family? What was it like?
When I first joined TICAH, we were a small team, just four. It felt like I was about to become a part of a close-knit family. The team made me feel like family right from the beginning.

Share a secret gem about TICAH that not everyone might know.
Many may not realize that while TICAH may appear small from the outside, it is an organization that is constantly growing. We have an extensive network, and we work with champions who are dedicated to our missions.

If you had to sum up the TICAH team in just one word, what would it be?
The TICAH team is like a spider's web, intricate and interconnected, capable of doing so many innovative things.

In your TICAH adventure, what's the most enchanting aspect of your role?
I love being the go-to person, helping people grow and providing opportunities. For me, it's all about giving people a chance to develop and supporting them along the way.

Which of TICAH's values feels like your daily dose of sunshine?

The value of acceptance is like my daily dose of sunshine at TICAH. It's a place where everyone is made to feel like they've known each other for years, right from day one. It's a culture of unity, and it's something special.

Tell us something extraordinary you've learned during your time at TICAH.
I've experienced significant growth at TICAH. I've started from scratch and enrolled in various courses that have enriched my skills and knowledge.

What transformation have you noticed the most during your TICAH journey?
TICAH keeps evolving, just like an upside triangle. We continue to grow through networking, expanding our partnerships, and forming new connections. We've faced challenges, but we've risen to the top. Our resilience is incredible; we've created a system where we all work together. It's a beautiful thing.

How do you plan on celebrating TICAH turning 20?

I'm grateful for the trust that TICAH has placed in me. I appreciate the long journey I've taken with TICAH and the opportunity to be a part of the team. Thank you for allowing me to grow and participate in this journey. I eagerly look forward to each new day.

Finish this sentence: If TICAH wasn't where I worked, I'd be...

I would have limited exposure to formal work, fewer insights into building relationships, and little knowledge about NGOs, donors, and government affairs. TICAH has been instrumental in my growth in these areas.

What's your recipe for a perfect Saturday?
A perfect Saturday, for me, is a day spent hiking, visiting my family in rural areas, and enjoying some quality "me-time." It's a time to relax and unwind.

What song instantly puts a smile on your face, no matter the mood?
Gospel music always brings joy to my heart, especially worship songs.

What are you eagerly looking forward to in the coming years?
I'm looking forward to my growth at TICAH. With the new strategic plan and my expanded job description, I'm excited to take on more responsibilities and hopefully have the authority to approve certain things independently.

Being one of the longstanding pillars of TICAH, what does it mean to you?

It means a lot to me. I've been loyal to the organization, and I've learned more from TICAH than I would anywhere else. This is my dream, my mission, and I'm far from finished. I'm looking forward to growing alongside TICAH.
