About the Illness

This means sweating excessively while sleeping, to the point that clothes and bedding become so damp that sleep is interrupted by the discomfort. Sweating is generally caused by physical exertion, emotional response, hot environment, menopause, or an underlying infection.
People who are HIV+ often experience night sweats as a result of viral infection.
However, chronic night sweats can be signs of fever-causing infections, including TB or Syphilis.

Food and Nutrition Advice

  • Avoid high protein and carbohydrate meals in the evenings; these are difficult to digest and if undigested can cause profuse sweating.
  • If you wake up sweating drink the juice of 1/2 lemon with cold water or apple cider vinegar with water to help you digest your food.
  • Avoid alcohol and sugars and try an anti-candida diet since yeast infection can contribute to sweating.
  • Take immune boosters.
